Once you decide on a breed, it's time to find a kennel that carries your breed.  It can not be emphasized enough the importance of working with a reputable breeder.

Rescued Dogs

Another option is instead of a breeder is to rescue an older dog.  Often these older dogs can make excellent family pets.
