The Westchester Kennel Club has a long and rich history dating back more than a century. Research indicates that the first show the Westchester Kennel Club held was at Gedney Farms in 1906 on the estate of its president, Howard Willetts. There were 583 dogs entered, and the Best in Show winner was Winthrop Rutherford’s Smooth Fox Terrier bitch, Champion Warren Remedy. Since then, we have held ninety-eight shows as of 2014 with many over having over 3000 dogs entered at times. The later shows were held at the prestigious Polo Grounds in Purchase New York. Beginning in 1973, our show site had been the beautiful Lyndhurst Estate in Tarrytown, New York, a National Trust Historic site.
Today our show is held at North Branch Park in Bridgewater New Jersey. This convenient location is close to hotels, restaurants, and shopping.
